Light, Always Light

"In the end, it will be alright,

and if it is not alright, well it is not the end,"

are words from a really wonderful movie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

There is a lot of wisdom in those words.

When we are in the midst of what feels like total darkness,

if we can stop and breathe,

maybe, just maybe,

in that moment we will get a glimpse of the Light

that is present,

even in those darkest of times.

As we faced the power outages over Thanksgiving,

it seemed very dark indeed, as plans were thrown askew,

and many families were kept apart by the weather.

But as I gaze upon the photo above,

taken just as dawn was breaking on Thanksgiving day,

I am reminded of God's never-ending presence with us.

Whatever comes before us,

I know that God carries

all of our times

in the palm of Her hand.

We are never alone.
